Pune : PMRDA demands PMC to provide 8 amenity spaces for constructing parking spaces

PMRDA signs agreement with Pune District & Sessions Court to hand over land for erecting the last station on Shivaji Nagar-Hinjewadi Metro Line-3.

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has asked the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to provide 8 amenity spaces for erecting parking spaces for metro stations falling on the Shivaji Nagar-Hinjewadi Metro Line-3.

Also, the PMRDA has signed an agreement with the Pune District & Sessions Court to hand over court land for the erection of the last station on Shivaji Nagar-Hinjewadi Metro Line-3.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Ramdas Jagtap, Deputy Collector, PMRDA, giving information about PMC providing amenity spaces for parking said, “There must be a parking area within 500 meters of every metro station. Also, there is a lack of land for erecting parking spaces for the metro stations on Metro Line-3. Hence, we have asked the PMC to hand over amenity spaces for erecting parking spaces at the metro station on Metro Line-3. We have inspected several amenity spaces which can be used to construct parking spaces for metro stations & found 10 suitable amenity spaces out of which 2 spaces are within the PMRDA jurisdiction. We are in the process of developing these into parking spaces. For the other 8 spaces which are under PMC jurisdiction, we have requested them to either develop the spaces for parking by themselves or hand them over to us for the same. We sent the request to the PMC last week for which a response from the PMC is awaited.”

Speaking about Pune District & Sessions Court handing over land for Metro station erection on Metro Line-3 Jagtap said, “The land asked for constructing the last metro station on Metro Line-3, from the Pune District & Sessions Court, is over 1150 sq m i.e. just over 11 gunthas. The process of acquiring land from the Pune District & Sessions Court has been going on since 2 to 3 years. They had several demands which have been settled. We have signed an agreement with the Pune District & Sessions Court for the erection of a metro station.”

As per information about amenity spaces from PMC, after obtaining eight amenity spaces from the PMC, the PMRDA will be able to provide parking for seven more metro stations — Balewadi Stadium, NICMAR, Ram Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Balewadi Phata, Baner Gaon and Baner metro station.
