The commissioner of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has announced that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the water sources of approximately 200 building permits that the PMRDA approved during the preceding two months.

Before authorizing construction, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) was instructed by PMC divisional commissioner Saurabh Rao on Monday to verify the specifics of the water sources.

The commissioner of PMRDA stated that although all permissions in the future will be carefully considered, permissions from the previous few weeks will also be examined, and teams will visit the locations of the constructions that have received approval. He went on to say that permissions could be revoked or suspended if the water source was unclear.

The PMRDA Commissioner went on to say that if no one is currently residing in the complex, permissions may be revoked and that each case will be handled separately. They will look for the water sources that the developer promised.

Residents of the Pune Metropolitan Region have drawn attention to the problem of inadequate water supply to hundreds of new buildings as a result of the construction boom.

According to a resident of Pune, the problem of inadequate water supply and reliance on tankers has persisted for a number of years.

According to officials of the PMRDA Building Permission Department, approvals have been granted on the basis of builders’ affidavits and gram panchayat no objection certificates (NOCs), but they will be double-checked. Depending on how the complex is built, the water sources will be carefully inspected. The teams will inspect both the building’s water supply and the technical aspects of the water availability for the constructions.
