Out of the 503 properties that were seized due to non-payment of property taxes, 110 properties will soon go up for auction through the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

The town planning department has received details of these 110 properties from civic officials for valuation based on updated rates; the auction will take place following the completion of the evaluation. This is PCMC’s first auction of properties that it has seized.

In the past few years, the civic body has seized 3,130 properties for nonpayment of property taxes; of these, 2,693 defaulters have settled their outstanding debts, totaling Rs 412 crore. The owners of the other properties still owe money.

According to a senior PCMC official, they currently have 110 properties up for auction, but they also intend to auction the remaining 503 properties. The purpose is to serve as an example of the severe measures the local government will take to deal with noncompliant property owners.

He continued by saying that legal professionals had trained their officials to adhere to legal formalities. These properties are nearly finished with their valuations. Nonetheless, following the completion of the valuation, the property owners will have one more chance to keep their properties, and they will send out one last notice prior to the auction. To prevent additional action, the property owners should settle their outstanding debts.
