Pune: In a recent development, Pune Police have successfully apprehended Kamrul Mandal, a prime suspect in a Bangladesh bomb blast case, along with six other Bangladeshi infiltrators. 

These individuals are currently under police custody until October 23, in accordance with the court’s orders.

According to the provided information, the arrest was made possible with the help of Military Intelligence (MI) from the Army’s Southern Command. Kamrul Mandal, who had previously been released on bail in Bangladesh, managed to enter India illegally and obtain a passport in Pune.

Investigations have revealed that Mandal and the other infiltrators procured Indian identification documents, such as Aadhaar and PAN cards, with the assistance of a middleman. The Army’s intelligence agency and Hadapsar police collaborated on a joint operation conducted in the Hadapsar region of Pune. During the investigation, various identification documents, including Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and passports, were seized from the suspects.

Furthermore, the police have successfully traced and confiscated passports from the middleman responsible for providing these illicit identification documents. Further investigation uncovered that the detained infiltrators held bank accounts in West Bengal through which they transferred money back to Bangladesh.

The arrested individuals remain in police custody, and a comprehensive investigation is currently underway. The police have informed the court about their ongoing efforts, which involve tracking the money trail, identifying potential accomplices, and fully comprehending the scope of their activities within India.
