Pune, March 9, 2026: Police in Pune have dismantled an interstate gang involved in mobile phone snatching and arrested four suspects accused of targeting pedestrians across the city. During the operation, officers recovered eight stolen mobile phones and a motorcycle allegedly used in the crimes.

According to investigators from the Pune Police, the gang would patrol different parts of the city on motorcycles while searching for pedestrians using their mobile phones. Once a target was identified, the accused would approach at high speed on a sports bike, snatch the device and quickly escape from the scene.

Police said at least two such incidents had been reported earlier within the jurisdiction of the Parvati Police Station. During the investigation, officers examined CCTV footage and gathered technical evidence, which revealed that the suspects were using a motorcycle that had been stolen from Navi Mumbai.

Authorities later traced the suspects after noticing traffic challans issued against the stolen motorcycle in Pune. Using this information, police tracked down the accused and carried out the arrests.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Arjun Kamlesh Saroj (18), Imran Shafique Sheikh (18), Ravikumar Rajendrakumar (21) and Pradeep Kumar Mahendrakumar (21). Police said the accused are originally from Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand but were currently staying in various localities in Pune.
