Pune Police Book Four PG Operators In Chandan Nagar For Failing To Submit Tenant Details
Pune, July 23: Pune Police have registered cases against four paying guest (PG) operators and owners in the Chandannagar police station jurisdiction for allegedly failing to provide mandatory information about residents staying at their premises.
The action was taken after police found that several PG operators had rented out rooms without submitting tenant details to the Chandannagar Police Station, in violation of an official order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch), Pune City, on July 3, 2026.
According to police, during an inspection on July 21, 2026, four PG operators/owners were found to have knowingly ignored the directive requiring submission of resident information. Cases have been registered against them under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for disobedience of an order issued by a public servant.
Police officials said the action was carried out as part of efforts to strengthen security and ensure proper verification of tenants staying in PG accommodations across the city.
The operation was conducted by the Special Branch, Zone-7 team, Chandannagar Police Station’s intelligence unit and Anti-Terrorism Cell (ATC) team under the guidance of senior police officials.
The action was carried out under the supervision of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Darade, Additional Commissioner of Police (Eastern Region) Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-7) Avinash Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kharadi Division) Sunil Dorge, and Chandannagar Senior Police Inspector Ashwini Jagtap.
Pune Police have warned PG operators and property owners that failure to maintain and submit resident records as required will invite strict legal action. The department reiterated that tenant verification and compliance with security guidelines are essential for maintaining public safety.
