Pune: In a successful operation, the crime branch unit of Pune city police cracked down on a cricket betting racket in Kondhwa on Saturday night during an Indian Premier League match, said Police.

Nine people were detained, and 18 mobile phones,3 laptops, 1 computer, and a total cash worth of Rs 5.12 Lakh were recovered from them. They were taken into custody from Bramha Aangan society in Kondhwa.

The arrested suspects were identified as Hemant Ravindra Gandhi, Ajinkya Shamrao Kolekar, Sachin Satish Ghodke, Yash Pratap Manojkumar Singh, Dharmendra Sangamalal Yadav, Reingalm Chandrasekhar Patel, Anurag Fulchand Yadav, Indrajit Gopal Mujumdar, and Satish Santosh Yadav.

The police received information about the betting activities taking place at a residence in Kondhwa during the Mumbai Indians vs. Chennai Super Kings match of the IPL. Upon raiding the location, the police found the accused making credentials on the LOTUS 365 link and providing them to punters.

Senior Police Inspector Shrihari Bhairat said ,  â€œIt was revealed that the accused were using various apps and platforms to place bets on the IPL matches and were involved in generating IDs and distributing them to customers. We have booked them and seized cash and other electronic devices used in betting activity.’’
