Pune, November 8, 2025: The Pune City Police have solved a shocking murder case that mirrored the plot of the popular film Drishyam 3. A man who initially reported his wife missing has confessed to killing her, leading to the discovery of the crime.

According to the Pune Police Crime Branch, on October 28, 2025, a missing complaint was filed at the Warje Malwadi Police Station. The complainant, Sameer Punjabrao Jadhav (42), a resident of Shri Swami Sankul Apartments, Shivne, Pune, claimed that his wife had gone missing from Shri Ram Misal House, Gogalwadi Phata, Mumbai–Bengaluru Highway, Shindewadi. The case was subsequently transferred to the Rajgad Police Station, as the incident location fell under its jurisdiction.

However, during further questioning, officers noticed inconsistencies and suspicious behavior in Jadhav’s statements. Acting on the instructions of Senior Police Inspector Vishwajeet Kaingade, the investigation continued under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam, despite the case being transferred.

After sustained interrogation, Jadhav broke down and confessed to killing his wife due to personal disputes and suspicions about her fidelity. Following his confession, an FIR was registered at Warje Malwadi Police Station under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), and the case has been formally transferred to the Rajgad Police Station for further investigation.

The breakthrough came through the combined efforts of the Warje Police team led by Police Inspectors Vishwajeet Kaingade, Prakash Dhende, and Nilesh Badakh, along with PSIs Sanjay Narale and Nitin Gaikwad, and police constables Ganesh Karche, Sunil Muthe, Yogesh Wagh, Sharad Pol, and Shirish Gawade.

The investigation revealed how the accused attempted to mislead authorities by staging a missing case — a move reminiscent of the cinematic tactics portrayed in Drishyam 3. Police officials praised the investigating team for their persistence in exposing the truth behind the fabricated disappearance.
