Pune, January 19, 2026: During the vote counting process for the Pune Municipal Corporation Elections 2026, heavy police security was deployed on January 16, 2026, at Sadhana Vidyalaya, Hadapsar, Pune. Amid the counting process, some workers accompanying candidates deliberately modified motorcycle silencers without authorization, creating loud and harsh noise. They also used shrill horns, attempting to disturb public peace.

Such acts posed a serious risk of chaos and tension at the vote counting centre. Acting promptly and effectively, police officers and personnel on duty seized a total of 19 motorcycles, including Bullet and Yamaha bikes. Strict punitive action was taken against the vehicle riders under the Motor Vehicles Act and other applicable laws.

As part of this action, a total fine of ₹96,700 was recovered from the violators.

The Pune Police have appealed to youths not to make illegal modifications to vehicles, use harsh horns, or engage in any activity that disturbs public peace.

This operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Eastern Regional Division) Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone 6 Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, Assistant Commissioner of Police Hadapsar Division Atulkumar Navgire, Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Mogle (Hadapsar Police Station), and Police Inspector (Crime) Nilesh Jagdale.

The action team was led by Police Sub-Inspector Hasan Mulani along with officers and personnel including Satyawan Gend, Deepak Kamble, Bhausaheb Khatke, Nilesh Kirve, Bapu Lonkar, Bhagwan Hambarde, Aniruddha Sonawane, Ajit Madne, Tukaram Jhunjhar, Mahesh Chavan, Kundalik Keskar, Mahavir Londhe, Akash Dhawade, Vijay Kanekar, and Dhiraj Shelar, whose performance has been praised by senior officials.
