Pune Police Cracks Down on Hadapsar Gang; Files MCOCA Charges

A recent incident of mobile phone theft in Hadapsar led to the arrest of a notorious gang of five individuals involved in various serious offenses. The gang, accused of threatening and robbing locals, was apprehended by the Pune City police. The complaint, filed at the Hadapsar Police Station, highlighted the theft that occurred on September 14 at the new overbridge on Mahadevnagar Manjari Road around 10:30 pm. The victim was targeted while engrossed in his mobile phone, with the perpetrators snatching it forcefully and issuing threats to dissuade him from reporting the incident.

An investigation was conducted jointly by the Hadapsar police and the crime branch, resulting in the strategic arrest of the culprits. Among those apprehended were Amol Balasaheb Adegaonkar, identified as the gang leader, Rohan Bhagwan Thorat, Ganesh Gautam Korde, Ashitosh Vikram Gajre, and Mangesh Ganesh More. The police invoked Section 3 (1) (ii) of the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act, 1999, alongside charges under Sections 392, 395, 120(b), and 34 of the IPC, in response to the gang’s activities, which had instilled fear in the Hadapsar region.

Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke of the Hadapsar police station, under the authorization of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Unit-05, Vikrant Deshmukh, led the successful operation. The investigation continues to unfold as authorities delve deeper into the gang’s activities and connections.
