Pune Police Crime Branch Seizes Gutkha Worth Rs 1.63 crore In Raid At Narhe Ambegaon
Unit 2 of the crime branch conducted a raid on a gutkha manufacturing factory, godown, and farmhouse at Narhe Ambegaon in Pune. They seized gutka along with duplicate gutka worth Rs 1.63 crore in the operation.

Pune- On June 15, Sub inspector of police Rasal of Unit 2 Crime Branch and his team received a tip-off wherein it was informed that a factory and godown in the Narhe Ambegaon area was used to manufacture Gutka and its duplicate version and it was stored for sale. Shortly after receiving the message, the senior officer of the Crime Branch formed four teams and ordered them to take action. The teams conducted a raid at Abhinav College Road, Khadewadi in Narhe gaon, Pune. In the operation, RMD Chowkidar ready Gutka, RMD Gutkha betel Nut Tobacco, RMD tobacco mixed Gutka, and other raw materials for making Gutka as well as two tempos used for its distribution were seized.

Four accused were arrested and identified as Pushpendra Akbal Singh (27), Sunil Singh (45), Mukesh Kaluram Gehlot (28), and Chandan Ajaypal Singh (32). In their statement, they admitted that the factory and godown were owned by Nilesh Lalwani and they had been assisting him in stockpiling and selling illegal Gutkha.
During the raid, Gutkha and its raw materials total worth Rs 1,35,92,800 were found and the godown was sealed. A case has been registered at Sinhagad police station applying Section 328, 109, 120 (b), 272, 188, 30 (2) (a), 31 (1), 26 (2) (I), 26 (2) (IV) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Also, the Food Safety Standards Act, Prohibition and Restriction on Sale Regulations 2011 in contravention of regulations 2, 3, 4, and sub-section 3 (I) ZZ has been applied and the four accused have been arrested. They were presented in court and have been granted police custody till June 20.
The details of the raid are as mentioned-
1. Rs 19,51,500 worth of adulterated Gutka, raw materials, and machinery was seized from the Gutka manufacturing factory at Narhe Ambegaon
2. The factory and godown have been sealed by the police
3. Rs 7, 80,000 worth of raw materials were seized from the farmhouse of the main accused near Varve Khurd village in Khed Shivapur and the farmhouse has also been sealed
4. In total, Rs 1,63,24,300 worth of Gutka was seized
Amol Rasal Unit 2 Crime Branch is conducting further investigation of the crime and the main accused
