Pune Police have rolled out comprehensive security measures to ensure the safety of the public during the upcoming Ganesh immersion procession, set to begin on Tuesday morning, September 17, and continue until Wednesday afternoon. Over 7,000 police officers will be deployed across the city to maintain law and order during the event.

To enhance surveillance, CCTV cameras will be extensively used to track movements and ensure prompt responses to any suspicious activity. Along with the regular police force, specialized units such as the Crime Branch, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, Rapid Action Force, and State Reserve Police Force will be on high alert to address emergencies.

Dedicated police teams will be stationed at critical locations to prevent crimes such as harassment of women, chain snatching, and mobile theft. In preparation, police officials are conducting thorough inspections of lodges and hotels to ensure security throughout the city.

As a precaution, all liquor stores in Pune will remain closed on September 17 and 18 until the conclusion of the immersion procession. Traffic restrictions will also be in place, with central Pune’s main roads and internal streets closed, though emergency routes for ambulances and fire services will remain open. Alternative routes will be provided for vehicles needing to bypass the city center.

To assist the public, the Pune Police have launched the ‘My Safe Pune’ app, which will offer real-time updates on parking, police assistance, pedestrian paths, and road closures. Preventive measures include a restriction on the use of loudspeakers beyond midnight on September 17, with strict adherence to specific decibel limits.

The procession will prohibit the use of flammable substances, and the bursting of firecrackers is banned in public spaces, streets, and around hospitals, ensuring a safe and peaceful celebration.
