Pune, April 17, 2026: As part of the ongoing “Flush Out” initiative by the Pune Police, the Sinhagad Road Police Station carried out a strong preventive action, arresting a suspect and seizing multiple weapons in Vadgaon Budruk.

The operation was conducted on April 16 during crime prevention patrolling under the supervision of Police Sub-Inspector Santosh Bhandwalkar. The team included Police Constable Vikas Bandal, Police personnel Sandeep Kamble, Tanaji Sagar, and Sagar Shedge.

During the patrol, police personnel Tanaji Sagar and Sandeep Kamble received specific information from a confidential informant about a suspicious individual waiting near Dhondiba Nivas building in Vadgaon with a white bag containing a weapon. Acting swiftly, the information was relayed to PSI Santosh Bhandwalkar, who informed senior officials and proceeded with the team to verify the input.

At the spot, the suspect attempted to flee upon noticing the police but was apprehended at around 2:30 pm. He was identified as Sanket Balaji Gaikwad (27), a resident of Gosavi Vasti, Vadgaon Budruk. His suspicious behaviour led the team to conduct a search in the presence of witnesses, during which an iron sickle worth approximately ₹800 was recovered. A subsequent house search led to the seizure of an additional sharp iron weapon and an iron sword.

A case has been registered against the accused at Sinhagad Road Police Station, and further investigation is being carried out by Police Constable Vikas Bandal.

The operation was executed under the guidance of senior officers including Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner Rajesh Bansode (Western Region), Deputy Commissioner Sambhaji Kadam (Zone 3), Assistant Commissioner Ajay Parmar (Sinhagad Road Division), Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar, and Police Inspector (Crime) Sameer Gaikwad.

The team involved in the action also included officers Uttam Taru, Anna Kekaan, Vikas Bandal, Satish More, Rahul Olekar, Sagar Shedge, Tanaji Sagar, Sandeep Kamble, Sameer Malwadkar, Vinayak Mohite, and Shirish Gavade, whose coordinated efforts ensured the success of the operation under the Pune Police’s “Flush Out” initiative.
