Pune Police have issued an alert at all airports to stop Karan Dilip Bothra, a key suspect in a ₹26 crore fraud case, from leaving the country. Bothra, a resident of Pitale Nagar, Salisbury Park, is accused of cheating a construction businessman by promising high returns on investments in a fake steel trading business.

Nitin Suresh Agarwal, owner of Purple Construction Pvt. Ltd. and a resident of Ganeshkhind Road, filed the complaint. According to Agarwal, Bothra convinced him to invest in the steel and metal trading business. To gain his trust, Bothra provided a declaration cum undertaking document and issued cheques as security. However, the accused failed to return the funds, causing a financial loss of ₹26 crore.  The alleged scam took place between April 2023 and December 17, 2024.

The case was registered last week at Chatuhshrungi Police Station. Assistant Police Inspector (API) Dattatraya Waghmare, leading the investigation, said Bothra was summoned for questioning. In response, the accused claimed he was out of town and would return in 2-3 days.

To prevent an escape, Pune Police have alerted all airports. The case highlights the risks in financial dealings where trust and legal documents are misused.

Police are intensifying their investigation to ensure Bothra cooperates. Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution in financial transactions and to verify investment opportunities thoroughly.
