Pune Police Issue Notices To Over 250 Ganapati Mandals, Enforce Restrictions On Chariot Heights
Pune: Over 250 Ganapati mandals in the city were served notices by the police on Monday, instructing them not to construct chariots taller than 16 feet for the upcoming immersion processions. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I), Sandeep Singh Gill, emphasized that the restriction is aimed at avoiding complications, particularly on JM Road, where the newly built Metro foot-over bridge near Sambhaji Garden has a height of 16 feet.
“The immersion processions from these mandals will pass through JM Road from the old part of the city,” said Gill. He also noted that 10 Ganapati mandals have installed hydraulic systems in their chariots to prevent issues during the procession.
In addition, police confiscated three sound pressure mode equipment from mandals on Sunday night. Many mandals utilize this equipment to enhance acoustic output, which can have harmful effects on human hearing. Gill warned, “Our teams will inspect all chariots and tableaux. If such equipment is found, the entire sound system will be seized.”
