The Pune police are gearing up for a massive deployment to ensure a safe and secure Ganapati immersion procession on Tuesday. With women’s safety being a top priority, the police have implemented stringent security measures.

To ensure a harassment-free environment, the police have deployed 792 policewomen, who will encourage women to report any incidents of misconduct. Additionally, 41 Damini squads will patrol the area, providing an extra layer of security and deterrence against potential miscreants.

“We are committed to creating a safe environment for all attendees,” said Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma. “Our policewomen will be visible and approachable, encouraging women to come forward and seek help if needed.”

To monitor crowds and identify potential troublemakers, five officers and 24 constables will blend into the crowd in plain clothes. Meanwhile, 195 CCTV cameras will record the procession, providing real-time footage to the police control room.

Sharma emphasized, “Any incident of harassment will be dealt with swiftly and strictly. Plainclothes officers will immediately alert the police, and offenders will face prompt action.” A DCP-level officer has been deputed to oversee the security arrangements.

Citizens can reach out to the police for assistance through emergency numbers 109 or 112 or contact the Police Control Room at 020-26208250 or 020-26126296.

With these measures in place, the Pune police aim to provide a secure and enjoyable experience for all devotees participating in the immersion procession.
