Pune Police seizes music systems of Kalyani Nagar restaurants, pubs for playing loud music

Residents of Kalyani Nagar mainly near the Cerebrum IT park and other adjoining areas including Mundhwa, Vadgaon Sheri have been complaining several times about the loud music played by restaurants, bars and pubs in the area.

On January 13, the Social Security Cell of the Pune City Police seized music systems of Elrow and Unicorn House, pubs from Kalyani Nagar for playing loud music beyond the permissible limit and time. The music system worth Rs 3,90,000 (sound system and DJ mixer) have been seized under section Environment Protection Act, 1986 (Sound Pollution) (Prevention and Control) Act 2000, section 5. The seized material has been handed over to Yerwada police station.

A Kalyani Nagar resident complained that these IT companies around our area have been a bane on us. They are troublesome. The employees party on the rooftop terraces and often disturb us. Similarly, even the restaurants, rooftop pubs, hotels have been disturbing the peace of the local residents. We have raised so many complaints, we demand a permanent solution to our problem.

The action was taken under leadership of Retesh Kumar, commissioner, Pune City Police, joint commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik, Additional Commissioner of Police Ramnath Pokale, deputy commissioner of police crime branch Amol Zende, social security cell senior police inspector Vijay Kumbhar, API Aniket Pote, Police constable Rajendra Kumawat, Baba Karpe, Pushpendra Chavan.
