Residents of Wagholi are facing distress and frustration as they navigate huge potholes and waterlogging on the Wagholi-Lohegaon Road and Wagholi-Nagar Road on a daily basis.

Nitin Jain, a resident of Suyog Nisarg Society in Wagholi, expressed his concerns, stating that every monsoon season, the problem of potholes and waterlogging worsens on Lohegaon Road, making driving a daunting experience.

Kirti Bharadwaj, a resident of Ozone Apartments, shared similar sentiments, lamenting that for the past 4 to 5 years, the issue of potholes and waterlogging has persisted despite numerous complaints to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

An anonymous resident from Nyati Elan Society in Wagholi pointed out that the pothole and waterlogging problem originates on the Wagholi-Nagar Road, with several spots filled with water, causing extensive waterlogging. However, PMC has shown little concern or action to address the issue.

On social media, a Twitter user expressed concern about the massive potholes on Wagholi-Lohegaon Road, describing them as risky for drivers, particularly during the rainy season when they turn into small ponds. Yet, authorities seem indifferent to the problem.

Sanjeev Patil, the Director of Wagholi Housing Society Association, highlighted a crucial aspect contributing to the waterlogging issue— the lack of an integrated drainage system in Wagholi. Consequently, water accumulates on the roads, exacerbating the situation. Potholes have become a common problem throughout Wagholi, and PMC’s inaction has left residents feeling unheard.

Pune Pulse attempted to contact the relevant PMC official, but efforts to connect were unsuccessful.

The residents of Wagholi are urging for immediate action from the authorities to address the persistent potholes and waterlogging, which have not only disrupted daily commutes but also raised serious concerns about road safety and infrastructure maintenance in the area.
