Pune News : 1896 Cases of Conjunctivitis Reported in Pimpri Chinchwad in Just 10 Days

Pimpri Chinchwad is witnessing a shocking outbreak of Conjunctivitis as 1000+ cases of conjunctivitis have surfaced.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dr Abhay Dadewar, Additional Medical Officer, PCMC Health Department, said “Sudden outbreak in conjunctivitis cases could be due to several reasons just like we saw in Alandi. Hence, to combat conjunctivitis rise in Pimpri Chinchwad, we are organizing several awareness programs in various areas. Also, we are approaching all those schools & other institutions who report conjunctivitis symptoms to PCMC after which we immediately go to the spot & offer medical assistance.”

As per information from Dr Abhay Dadewar, 1896 cases of conjunctivitis have been reported in Pimpri Chinchwad from 21st July to 31st July i.e. in the matter of just 10 days.

The probability of this sudden outbreak of Conjunctivitis is mostly seen amongst children. Various times, children, especially school going students, do not listen to the instructions given. 

Just like the huge number of Conjunctivitis cases in Alandi some days ago & now in Pimpri Chinchwad, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has begun to take appropriate measures from now itself.

Dr Suryakant Deokar, Assistant Health Officer, PMC Health Department, said “Looking at the current outbreak of Conjunctivitis cases in Alandi & Pimpri Chinchwad, the PMC has started various awareness campaigns & drives across various schools in Pune & is ready with the proper treatment of Conjunctivitis whenever anyone needs it.”

Dr Abhay Dadewar has assured that the current number of Conjunctivitis cases are of mild range & are getting cured in merely 5 to 7 days. Still, caution is recommended for the entire city & if anybody feels any kind of symptoms like eye diseases and much more, they are encouraged to immediately report to the PCMC as the PCMC is equipped & ready to treat Conjunctivitis.
