Pune priest kidnapped for a ransom of Rs 5 crore; three suspects arrested in Karnataka

A priest and his followers were kidnapped after being tricked into thinking they were going to Karnataka for a religious event. The kidnappers asked for a ransom of Rs 5 crore. The Pune police worked with the Karnataka police to arrest three suspects in Karnataka. The court has kept the suspects in police custody until October 5.

The arrested suspects are Ramu Apparai Valun from Trikundi, Datta Shivaji Kare (20), and Harshad Suresh Patil (22) from Asangi, Jat Taluka, Sangli. The complainant, Jarang Tulshiram Lande (51) from Bibvewadi, reported that his son, Bajrang Lande, a priest, was kidnapped.

After the complaint was made at the Bibwewadi police station, an investigation began, and the suspects were found in the Raichur area of Karnataka. With help from the Karnataka police, the three suspects were arrested.

The operation was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police R Raja, along with Senior Police Inspector Mangal Mondwe and other police officers. Further investigation into the case is underway.
