The incident has triggered fresh concerns over public behaviour inside pubs, alleged violation of operational rules and the overall law-and-order situation in the city, which is widely known as Maharashtra’s IT hub and a major youth destination.
What has added to the buzz is that the Bastian pub is reportedly owned by a well-known Bollywood actress.
According to information circulating online, the viral clip was allegedly recorded inside Bastian pub during a late-night party. The video reportedly shows a young couple engaging in obscene acts on the dance floor in front of a large crowd. Despite hundreds of people being present at the venue, no one is seen stopping or objecting to the behaviour in the footage.
The video has reignited criticism over Pune’s growing pub culture and raised questions about monitoring and enforcement by authorities.
The controversy comes just a day after another serious incident in Pune, where a young woman lawyer was allegedly sexually assaulted after leaving a pub on Sunday night. The accused allegedly molested and assaulted her inside a car. While discussions over that incident were still ongoing, the emergence of the Bastian pub video has further intensified concerns regarding women’s safety and public security in the city.
Locals have also alleged that the pub continues operations till nearly 3 am, despite most pubs in Pune reportedly being permitted to operate only till around 1:30 am. This has led to allegations of possible violations of licensing norms and operational timing rules.
As the video continues to spread widely across social media platforms, many citizens have demanded strict action from the Pune Police. Calls are growing for tougher measures against public obscenity, late-night violations and increasing criminal incidents linked to nightlife venues.
Although no official statement has yet been issued by the police, sources indicate that authorities may verify the authenticity of the viral video and examine the licences and permissions of the concerned establishment.
