Pune Railway division fines 26,000 ticketless travellers and collects fine of Rs 2 crores in May 2023

Pune Railway Division started a ticket-checking campaign to keep a tab on the passengers travelling without a train ticket, irregular travel, baggage without booking etc in May 2023.

During the campaign around 26,188 people were found travelling without tickets. A fine of 2 crores 27 lakhs 40 thousand rupees was collected from them. Additionally, 7825 people were fined Rs 48 lakh 58 thousand for irregular travel. Similarly,  139 people have been charged Rs 14 thousand for carrying baggage without booking.

The campaign was carried out under the guidance of Indu Dubey,  Divisional Railway Manager, Brijesh Kumar Singh, Additional Divisional Railway Manager and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager.

Passengers are requested to travel with valid tickets or else they will have to pay fines under the Railway Act and non-payment can lead to imprisonment.
