Pune Railway Station To Get Two New Lifts By January 2025
In a welcome move for commuters, the Pune Railway Station will soon have two new lifts operational by January 2025. The lifts, which are currently in the final stages of construction, will be located at platform numbers 6 and 1.
The work on two lifts at platform numbers 1 and 6 is in its final stage, and we are hoping that they will start operating by January 2025. This will be beneficial for lakhs of passengers traveling daily from Pune Railway Station.
The introduction of lifts at the station has been a long-standing demand from commuters, particularly senior citizens and parents with young children. In 2022, a survey was conducted by Pune railway division officials, and a detailed proposal was sent to the railway headquarters for approval of four lifts to be installed for passengers.
The four lifts will be located at strategic points across the station, including one lift at platform number 1, one lift each between platform numbers 2 and 3, and 4 and 5, and one lift at platform number 6 near the Pune Metro Station.
The railway board sanctioned funds for installing four lifts at Pune Railway Station earlier this year. The lifts are being installed in a phase-wise manner, with the first two lifts set to become operational by January 2025.
The introduction of lifts is expected to greatly improve the commuting experience for passengers at Pune Railway Station. The station currently has several foot-overbridges (FOBs), including a new, wider FOB that connects all six platforms. However, the lack of lifts has been a major inconvenience for many commuters.
