Pune: Pune’s railway station is about to get under the watchful eye of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as the station authorities are about to install the latest ‘Internet Protocol Cameras’ system.

As per information shared by Dr Ramdas Bhise, Divisional Commercial Manager and PRO, Pune Railway Station, the cameras, which are powered by AI, will keep an eye on any suspicious activity in the station and let the railway authorities know right away. Plus, the railway administration will get real-time info thanks to this technology. The cameras will be launched on a pilot basis for 1 month.

The Railway Ministry has also taken important steps to improve the utilization of modern technology for operational tasks. Now, every railway department will use modern technology, as was earlier proposed. The Pune division has submitted 7 projects to the railway headquarters. One of them was a proposal for a thermal screening device.

The installation of Internet Protocol Cameras (IPC) at the railway station will be carried out soon. The installation will be carried out by Jio Platforms’ subsidiary Jio Things Limited. The final approval for this project was given by Indu Dubey, the Divisional Railway Manager. This marks the start of the project.

There will be four IPC cameras at the entrance gate, exit gate, and reservation center at the railway station. Firstly, these cameras will be installed on a pilot basis for 30 days. After the run, it will be finalized whether these should be made permanent or not.
