Pune: Pune Railways is planning to begin various new facilities on the 12-meter Foot Over Bridge (FOB) for the ease of senior citizens, persons with disabilities and more.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dr Ramdas Bhise, Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) And PRO, Pune Railways said, “There is no plan or proposal for demolishing the current 12-meter FOB above the railway station. Currently, a ramp & a lift will be connected with the 12-meter FOB. A ramp will be constructed on every platform of the station along with 4 lifts. The tendering process is going on for these which will be done soon.”

As per further information, the number of passengers travelling from Pune station is increasing. It has a large number of female passengers including senior citizens. The station currently has three escalators. It is difficult to carry disabled or senior citizens in wheelchairs. To solve this problem, the railway administration has decided to add a ramp to the 12-meter-long pedestrian bridge.

This will make it easier for senior citizens and disabled passengers to use wheelchairs to take them from the ramp. Apart from this, elevators are also going to be installed so that the passengers can go to each platform easily.
