Pune Railways To Upgrade Manjari Station, Build New Ramtekdi Station To Improve Travel
Pune, April 9, 2026: The Pune Railway Department has announced two major projects to enhance rail travel and reduce congestion in the city. The Manjari station on the Pune-Daund route will be upgraded from a halt station to a ‘B’ category station with modern facilities. Additionally, a new “block station” will be constructed at Ramtekdi on the Pune-Miraj route.
Currently, Manjari is only a halt station, served by DEMU trains. Upgrading it will divide the 12 km stretch between Hadapsar and Loni into two 6 km blocks, allowing two trains to operate simultaneously. New loop lines, advanced signaling systems, and passenger amenities will also be installed. These changes are expected to improve train frequency and reduce delays.
The new Ramtekdi station will help streamline operations between Pune and Saswad Road stations, enhancing line capacity and optimizing train schedules on the Pune-Miraj route. The total estimated cost for both projects is around ₹40 crore.
These developments at Manjari and Ramtekdi will improve operational efficiency, provide better infrastructure for passengers, and save travel time. This step has been taken considering the increasing number of commuters.
What is a block station?
A block station is equipped with a signaling system to maintain safe distances between trains and regulate rail traffic. The implementation of block stations at Manjari and Ramtekdi is expected to significantly accelerate railway operations in the Pune division.
