The residents of Narhe, Nanded, Kirkatwadi, Nandoshi, Khadakwasla, Sanas Nagar Kolhewadi, and other villages within the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits are struggling to access reliable water supply. Despite the PMC’s 24×7 water scheme, introduced in 2017, the corporation has yet to implement it properly, leaving many areas without adequate water supply.

Mahesh Rajaram Pokle, Shiv Sena leader from Dhayari area emphasized the need for basic facilities, including reliable water supply, to be provided to residents. “The PMC should give these basic facilities to residents,” Pokle told Pune Pulse. “The 24*7 water scheme was introduced in 2017, but till 2024, it is still not implemented properly. Hence, what we are requesting to the PMC is to provide proper water supply and also implement the 24/7 water supply scheme resolving the issue permanently. I have been following up on the issue since 2022.”

Pokle’s statement highlights the long-standing issue of inadequate water supply in these villages. The PMC’s inability to provide reliable water supply has raised concerns among residents, who are now seeking temporary relief.

In response to the water supply concerns, the PMC has floated a tender recently to address the issue. However, the residents are still waiting for a reliable solution.

The PMC’s tender floated for the newly merged villages in PMC 11 and 23 villages, among which Narhe, Nanded Phase 1, Dhayari, Khadakwasla, Sanas Nagar, Kirkatwadi be supplied through water tankers.

The PMC’s Water Supply Department faces challenges in supplying water to the newly added villages, resulting in a significant increase in demand. As the residents continue to struggle with inadequate water supply, they urge the PMC to take immediate action to address their concerns and provide reliable water supply to all areas within its jurisdiction.
