Residents of Navshya Maruti Parisar have taken a proactive step in safeguarding their environment by sharing a compelling video clip that showcases the importance of preserving trees in their locality. The footage, captured by a member of the Navshya Maruti Parisar Nagrarik Samiti, highlights a significant moment at the Naushya Maruti Chowk turning point, where a large transport truck navigates through the area without causing any harm to the surrounding trees.

The video serves as a poignant reminder that the imminent threat of tree cutting looms over the area. In response, the Navshya Maruti Parisar Nagrarik Samiti vehemently urges the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to reconsider its plans for tree removal, emphasizing the unnecessary environmental damage it would entail.

“We can clearly see from the footage that there is no justification for felling a single tree in our area. The PMC must halt any plans for tree cutting immediately and permanently,” stated a representative of the Navshya Maruti Localite Citizen Committee.

Seeking to raise awareness and prompt action, the samiti aims to draw the attention of PMC officials to the urgency of the situation. Despite assurances from PMC officials that no trees have been felled thus far, concerns linger over the potential relocation and re-planting of trees in the future.

Balasaheb Dolas, the Garden Officer responsible for Sinhagad Road, affirmed that decisions regarding tree relocation are pending approval from higher authorities. “We have submitted a letter to the relevant authorities outlining our proposed actions. However, no measures will be implemented until formal permission is granted, a process expected to conclude within the next 2-3 days,” Dolas stated.

As the residents of Navshya Maruti Parisar continue their vigilance in protecting their environment, their plea serves as a poignant reminder of the collective responsibility to preserve green spaces for future generations.
