Pune: Residents of Shree Shanti Nagar Society in Kondhwa Budruk are troubled by the long pending issue of encroachment outside their society.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Naresh Jain, a resident of Shree Shanti Nagar Society, Kondhwa said, “Every day, fruit sellers, vegetable sellers, soda shops and much more keep running their businesses just outside our society. People simply block the entrance of our society every day with these shops. Their customers fight with us about complaining.”

He added, “The irony is that we have to ask someone else to get entry into our society. They simply block the footpath completely due to which senior citizens, kids, and other people are forced to walk on the road risking their lives  especially from 5 pm to 10 pm every day.”

Another resident of Shree Shanti Nagar Society, Kondhwa, requesting anonymity, said “This is a very long-standing issue. Several people simply keep encroaching the entire footpath, especially in the evening time & run away when the authorities arrive & come back after the authorities go away. We can’t even fight back in tension of the safety and well-being of our family.”

Rajesh Salecha, Secretary of Shree Shanti Nagar Society, Kondhwa said, “We are fed up with dealing with this everyday menace. The PMC has been informed about this several times but no concrete solutions have been taken so far by them.”

Sanjay Jadhav, Kondhwa Encroachment Officer, PMC said, “We take strict action against all the encroachers every day in that area by either removing the entire shop or by fining. However, the vendors will install their businesses again the very next day.”
