PMC to install more immersion tanks for Ganesh Visarjan this year

Pune: It has been decided by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to increase the number of idol collection centres, iron immersion tanks etc.
On behalf of the PMC, arrangements are made every year for Ganeshotsav at various levels such as cleanliness, idol immersion system, Nirmalya collection, lighting system etc. This year, the count of iron immersion tanks, idol collection centres as well as Nirmalya collection centres will be increased by the PMC.
As per the official data shared by the PMC:
Following is the total count of iron immersion tanks, idol collection centres & Nirmalya Collection Centre in Pune last year (2022):
- · Immersion Tanks – 359
- · Idol Collection Centres – 216
- · Nirmalya Collection Centres – 206
Following is the total count of iron immersion tanks, idol collection centres & Nirmalya Collection Centre in Pune this year (2023):
- · Immersion Tanks – 568
- · Idol Collection Centres – 252
- · Nirmalya Collection Centres – 256
In order to avoid crowding of citizens during the COVID period, the Pune Municipal Corporation had torn up all immersion tanks and placed a rotating immersion tank. This year, there will be no mobile immersion tanks.
Therefore, the number of collection centers and immersion tanks for Ganesh idol immersion will be increased. About 455 artificial tanks are going to be arranged by the municipality in various areas.
