Pune: Residents Of Tuscan Estate Face Risks Due To Roadwork Flaws, PMC Assures To Complete Within 2 Months 

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is facing severe criticism from residents of Tuscan Estate, a housing complex with 550 flats in Kharadi, over problematic roadwork that poses significant risks to their safety. The roadwork carried out by PMC has involved digging the road 7 feet below the gate level, creating a hazardous situation for the residents.

The issue has been compounded by PMC’s insistence on maintaining the road at this lowered level, despite complaints from the residents. The PMC’s design choice, which involves making the road 7 feet below the gate, has been deemed impractical and dangerous by the affected residents.

Despite raising formal complaints with PMC, the residents report that their grievances have been dismissed without any corrective action. The complaint was closed without addressing the critical design flaw that could impact access and safety for the residents.

With a total of 10 buildings in the complex, the problem has stirred considerable unrest among the residents, who are now mobilizing on social media platforms to voice their concerns and seek a resolution from PMC. The residents are calling for immediate intervention to rectify the flawed roadwork and ensure their safety.

When Pune Pulse spoke to the executive engineer of the Road department of Pune Municipal Corporation, Sanjay Dharav, he said, “The comprehensive road is being constructed. The residents need to have patience until we finish the work. Also their concern of matching the road level would be addressed to but for that the work has to begin. They should allow us to work. The road is being constructed as per the DP markings. If they allow us to work we can even finish it within 2 months.”
