Pune: Residents Protest Over Contaminated Water Supply By Builder At VTP Aethereus Society In Mahalunge
Pune | February 13, 2026: A serious water quality crisis has emerged at VTP Aethereus Society in Mahalunge, triggering strong protests by residents against the builder’s management team. For the past several months, residents have been grappling with unsafe and unhygienic water supply, prompting them to take out a protest march within the society on Thursday.
According to residents, the water supplied to the society is muddy, greenish in colour and emits a strong foul smell, making it unfit for drinking and daily household use. Several families have reported health issues, especially among children, including vomiting, stomach pain and other gastrointestinal problems, which they directly attribute to the contaminated water. The situation has raised serious public health concerns within the residential complex.
Residents alleged that despite repeated complaints and representations to the management, no permanent solution has been implemented. “Only temporary fixes are done, and the problem keeps recurring. There has been no sustainable or scientific solution to ensure clean and safe water,” said protesting residents. They stressed that access to clean drinking water is a fundamental right and warned that negligence on such a basic civic issue would not be tolerated.
The protesters have demanded an immediate quality test of the water, regular supply of purified potable water, repair and upgrading of the water infrastructure, and strict action against those responsible for the negligence. They also called for transparency in the society’s water management system and long-term corrective measures to prevent recurrence of the issue.
Residents further urged the civic authorities, including the Pune Municipal Corporation and the health department, to take urgent cognisance of the matter. They have demanded official testing of water samples, immediate intervention to safeguard public health, and accountability from the concerned agencies. The protest reflects growing frustration among residents and highlights the urgent need for regulatory oversight and swift administrative action to prevent a potential health emergency.
