Pune: Residents Urge PMC, Traffic Police to Manage Congestion Amid Ganga Dham–Aai Mata Road Works
Pune, April 16, 2026: Residents from the Kondhwa area have appealed to the Pune Municipal Corporation and city traffic police to implement immediate traffic management measures following the commencement of road work on the Ganga Dham–Aai Mata Road stretch.
In a formal request, the Kondhwa Development Forum highlighted that the affected route handles a heavy volume of daily traffic. With the road currently closed for ongoing work, there are concerns that traffic pressure will significantly increase on Bibvewadi’s Upper Indira nagar side roads and other parallel routes.
To prevent congestion and ensure smoother vehicular movement, residents have demanded the deployment of additional traffic wardens and a dedicated traffic management team along the alternate routes.
The forum has also urged authorities to complete the road work on a fast-track basis, citing past delays in infrastructure projects. Residents referred to the prolonged completion timeline of the PGKM High School Road project, which reportedly extended beyond eight months, and expressed hope that such delays would be avoided this time.
Additionally, citizens have requested that, if feasible, a portion of the road be kept accessible for two-wheelers to ease local commuting challenges during the construction period.
The appeal concludes with a call for prompt action from civic authorities to minimize inconvenience and ensure efficient traffic handling in the area.
