Pune: Road Widening From Kalyaninagar Bridge To Tadi Gutta Chowk Set To Begin Soon
The widening project for the road connecting Kalyaninagar Bridge and Tadi Gutta Chowk is expected to start soon. The current 18-meter-wide road will be expanded to 30 meters, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion in the area.
The stretch of road from Kalyaninagar Bridge to Tadi Gutta Chowk spans two kilometers. This section has been a bottleneck due to its narrow width, causing significant traffic delays. The road passes through bustling areas like Koregaon Park, Keshav Nagar, and Mundhwa, which are home to numerous important offices, institutions, schools, colleges, industries, and businesses. These areas experience heavy traffic, exacerbating congestion issues.
Although some road widening has been done in parts of this region, the narrow bridge over Bhairoba Nala at Westin Chowk continues to be a major traffic hindrance. The work on this bridge is being managed by the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Special Projects Department.
The Pune Municipal Corporation has prioritized the road widening project from Kalyaninagar Bridge to Tadi Gutta Chowk. The proposal for this project has been presented to the Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee. It is anticipated that the work order for the project will be issued within the next week, and construction is expected to commence soon.
Currently, the road is 18 meters wide, with 6-meter-wide lanes on both sides. The planned expansion will significantly improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in the area.
