Pune RTA appeals to citizens to avoid using RAPIDO services

Pune: As per the Motor Vehicle Aggregator, Pune dated 23-May as per Motor Vehicle Aggregator Rules 2020. As the application of Ropan Transportation Services Pvt Ltd (Rapido) for obtaining an aggregator license for two-wheeler and three-wheeler taxis was rejected in a meeting of the Regional Transport Authority presided over by Pune District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh. It was decided in the meeting that the citizens should not use the Rapido app and travel safely using licensed vehicles, appealed the Regional Transport Officer, Pune.
“As the Ropan Transportation didn’t fulfil legal requirements and due to errors in the documents, their application for granting an aggregate license for two-wheeler taxis and for three-wheeler taxis got rejected by the Regional Transport Authority Pune, ” informed Regional Transport Authority Pune.
The central government has issued guidelines on November 27, 2020 regarding the issuance of aggregate license. The application of Ropan Transportation for getting license of two wheeler and three wheeler aggregate was received by Regional Transport Office Pune on 16 March 2022.
Regional Transport Authority Pune rejected the application of M Ropan Transportation Services Pvt Ltd as per the order dated 1st April 2022 as errors were found in the documents submitted by the applicant and the applicant did not rectify the said errors within the prescribed time limit.

We are in receipt of the order by the Pune RTO and are currently exploring all options, including legal, to contest this arbitrary order. Our actions are guided by the vision of providing millions of Pune commuters a convenient, efficient and cost-effective method of getting around, and importantly, the livelihoods of 57,000 Rapido Captains and their families. If any coercive action is taken against us on ground, it would amount to an overreach on the part of the Pune RTO and interference with a protective order in force granted by the Honorable Supreme Court.
