Pune: The Regional Transport Office, Pune is conducting an accreditation grading programme for the registered motor driving schools in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and Baramati.

The driving schools will be given grades as per their performance. The RTO has set criteria and has divided the total of 100 marks accordingly.

Grade A stands for very good, B stands for good and C for satisfactory.

“The initiative aims to improve the quality of driving schools and help them upgrade their teaching techniques as per the latest safety guidelines. We are doing this through the marking scheme. Our RTO inspecting team goes to the motor driving school, undertakes a detailed inspection and then gives the grade,” said Sanjay Sasane, deputy regional transport officer at Pune RTO.

A team has been appointed by the Regional Transport Office to carry out the inspection. Once the team visits the motor driving school, marks are given based on the parameters like space available for the school, registration details, quality and maintenance of vehicles which are used to train the people, classroom training modules, and display of signage boards at the driving schools, etc.

Sanjay Kakade, owner of a driving school in Sadashiv Peth said, “We have heard about this programme. It is a step in a good direction as driving school owners will keep their facility under check.”
