Pune Sees Surge In Luxury Car Registrations, Records Highest Sales In Three Years

The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has witnessed a significant surge in luxury car registrations, with a record 1,360 high-end cars registered in 2024. This marks a 21% increase from the previous year and the highest number of registrations in the past three years.
The registered luxury cars are priced between Rs 60 lakh and over Rs 9 crore, with the highest-priced car registered at a staggering Rs 9.32 crore. This is a significant jump from the 577 high-end cars registered in 2021.
According to RTO officials, the number of cars priced above Rs 1 crore stood at 424 this year, the highest in the last three years. In 2023, the same figure stood at 324, with the highest-priced car registered at Rs 8.08 crore.
Industry experts attribute the growth in luxury car sales to the increasing number of high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) in the city. Millennial couples now want a good lifestyle and are not afraid to spend. The road infrastructure has become very good, and people prefer to buy these cars and move.
A high-end vehicle dealer noted that the growth in the luxury car market in the country was over 35%, with sales touching almost 39,000 units in the last calendar year. Pune has been a big market for high-end cars. The spike mainly started last year, after the Covid-19 aftermath.
With the luxury car market expected to continue growing, Pune’s affluent residents can look forward to even more high-end options in the coming year.
