Pune, January 30, 2025: A shocking case of fraud has emerged in Balewadi, where a 62-year-old woman was allegedly tricked into paying ₹28.77 lakh by a fraudster who claimed her house was under the influence of black magic.
According to the complaint filed at Chaturshringi Police Station, the accused contacted the elderly woman in December last year, warning her that a black magic spell had been cast on her home. He further convinced her that her daughter was affected and that special rituals were necessary to remove the curse and correct the vastu dosh (architectural flaws).
Exploiting her fear, the fraudster manipulated her into making multiple online payments, totaling ₹28.77 lakh, into a specified bank account. The woman later realized she had been scammed and filed a police complaint.
Chaturshringi police have registered a case and Assistant Police Inspector Anil Kekan is leading the investigation.
