Pune : Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganesh Temple receives tourist spot status

The famous Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple in Pune has been declared as C grade tourist destination. The Maharashtra tourism department and the district planning committee made recommendations to grant the tourism status to the temple.

A sum of Rs 1.50 crore for Chatushrungi Devasthan, Rs 60 lakh for Jangli Maharaj Devasthan, Rs 40 lakh each to Omkareshwar and Kasba Ganpati development works and Rs 20 Lakh for the beautification of Pashan Lake has been granted in a meeting of district planning commission held on 19 May.

Mahesh Suryawanshi, treasurer, Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Sarvajanik Ganpati Trust said, “ As per suggestions given by MTDC officials, we have been trying for this since last six months but it was pending due to bypoll election. Finally today we got C grade tourism status and we are happy for it.’’

Elaborating its importance, Mahesh Suryawanshi said this is the initial step as B status is for state level tourism centres and A status means national level tourism centre.This will help us to avail government grant to make available for facilities for the devotees.
