Pune, June 26, 2026: The parents of murder accused Siya Goyal have publicly stated that they want the harshest possible punishment for their daughter if she is found guilty in the alleged murder of her fiancé, Ketan Agarwal.

Speaking to a media, Siya Goyal’s mother said that justice should prevail regardless of family ties.

“If she is guilty, she should receive the strictest punishment. She should be hanged if the court finds her guilty,” she said.

Echoing her statement, Siya’s father, Praveen Goyal, said that anyone responsible for the crime, including his own daughter, deserves the death penalty if convicted.

Praveen Goyal is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Pune after reportedly suffering a heart attack on June 23. Meanwhile, Siya’s brother has been attending to both parents at the hospital, and the family’s residence in Pune’s Market Yard area remains locked.

According to the Pune Police, 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal was allegedly murdered after being pushed into a gorge from Lohagad Fort in Maharashtra’s Sahyadri range. The incident, which initially appeared to be an accidental fall during a trek, is now being investigated as a planned murder.

Police have arrested Siya Goyal and her alleged lover, Chetan Babulal Chaudhary, charging them with murder and criminal conspiracy.

Investigators claim the two met at a café in Pune on the morning of June 18, where they allegedly planned the crime and identified locations at Lohagad Fort from where Ketan could be pushed.

Later that day, Siya reportedly convinced Ketan to accompany her on a trek to the fort, while Chetan followed them separately. CCTV footage from the café allegedly shows the accused discussing their plan before heading to the fort.

According to police, Siya and Chetan later pushed Ketan into a deep gorge. After the incident, Siya reportedly informed Ketan’s family that he had slipped and fallen during the trek.

The investigation has further revealed that Siya had allegedly made multiple attempts to take Ketan to Lohagad Fort before the fatal incident. Police claim the couple had visited the fort on May 31, while another planned visit on June 4 did not materialise after Ketan’s mother objected. During another visit on June 14, investigators allege Siya attempted to push Ketan off a cliff, but he survived after grabbing onto a bush. When questioned, she allegedly claimed she had pushed him after spotting a snake nearby.

CCTV footage from Lohagad Fort also showed a man dressed in a hoodie and shorts following the couple. Police found his attire suspicious, noting that temperatures on the day were around 33 degrees Celsius. Investigators believe the individual was attempting to conceal his identity.

Call detail records have also become a key part of the investigation. Police say Siya and Chetan exchanged more than 2,000 phone calls over the past six to seven months, spending nearly 238 hours in conversation, with some calls lasting up to three hours. The two reportedly first met at a Diwali party in 2025.

Ketan Agarwal served as Director and Chief Marketing Officer of his family’s real estate business, Success Group. Siya Goyal, a commerce graduate, got engaged to Ketan in February this year, and the couple had planned to marry in Udaipur in November after booking a palace venue.

Police allege Siya no longer wished to proceed with the marriage and, along with Chetan, viewed Ketan as an obstacle to their relationship. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
