Pune-Solapur Flight Service To Launch SoonÂ
A new flight service connecting Pune and Solapur will begin shortly after the inauguration of Solapur Airport. The service, operated by Fly91, will be introduced under the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme, which offers financial support to airlines in case of operational losses. The journey between Pune and Solapur will take approximately 40-45 minutes, significantly reducing travel time between the two cities.
The Solapur-Mumbai flight was initially planned to start earlier, but due to delays, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has decided to prioritize the Pune-Solapur route instead. Officials have stated that the Solapur-Mumbai service is likely to commence by the end of November.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate Solapur Airport on September 26 through video conferencing. In addition to the flight services, the state government is also providing subsidies on tickets as part of the VGF scheme to make air travel more affordable for passengers. Authorities are optimistic about the potential growth and connectivity the new route will bring to both Pune and Solapur.
