Pune: Sports Mania Claims Third Consecutive Victory, Joins Top Spot in Group-H with 1-0 Win over CVM F.C.
Pune, 11 January, 2025: Sports Mania continued their ‘dream run’ logging their third win in a row by winning a hard fought 1-0 win over Charutar Vidya Mandal F.C. The victory helped Pune-based Sports Mania move into joint top position of Pool-H in the AIFF Elite Youth League at the CVM FC ground, Anand, Gujarat, here on Friday.
Sports Mania playing their second ‘away’ match of this season began by coming close to score through Shounak Dhapte, Sherwyn Selvaraj and Prithviraj Patil before settling down.
The match-winner came three minutes into extra-time via left midfielder Aalhaad Hate (90+4) who slotted home from a scramble ahead of the goalline. The goal came off a Shaunak Dhapte corner-kick taken from the right flag. A well-directed header by Romit Jambhle was saved on the goalline leading to a scramble, where in Alahaad utalised the opportunity and slotted home the winner.
Victory for Sports Mania was their third straight lacing their campaign with a 2-1 win over Maharashtra Oranje F.C in a Round-1 ‘home’ match, later they beat Rajasthan F.C 1-0 in their Round-2 ‘away’ match.
Sports Mania currently shares the pole position with Zinc F.C and is second placed owing to an +1 goal average in favour of ARA F.C. Both, however, have 9 points each from 3 unbeaten encounters.
Sports Mania now heads to play ARA F.C in Naroda, Ahmedabad on January 13th.
