Pune, March 31, 2026: Serious concerns over student safety have emerged in Pune after an incident of alleged rash driving by a school van driver in the Lohgaon area came to light.
While authorities continue to stress strict safety norms for school transportation, a shocking case has surfaced involving a van driver associated with St. Mount Patrick School. The driver was reportedly seen driving recklessly through the narrow lanes of Lohgaon despite carrying young students in the vehicle.
Internal roads and bylanes in Lohgaon are known to be extremely narrow, requiring drivers to maintain low speeds and exercise heightened caution, especially when transporting schoolchildren. However, in this instance, the driver allegedly ignored all safety protocols and drove at high speed in a negligent manner, putting the lives of students at serious risk.
Locals stated that had another vehicle appeared suddenly or if the driver had lost control even slightly, it could have resulted in a major accident. The reckless driving also alarmed pedestrians and residents in the area.
