Pune, March 31, 2026: The Pune City Traffic Police conducted a three-day special enforcement drive from March 27 to March 29, 2026, targeting traffic violations such as triple riding, use of modified silencers, and drunk driving across the city.

During the drive, strict action was taken against violators. A total of 1,265 motorcyclists were penalised for triple riding. In addition, 320 motorcycles fitted with illegal modified silencers were booked, and all such silencers were removed and seized on the spot. Authorities collected fines amounting to ₹5.71 lakh in these cases, while 234 modified silencers and 852 vehicles were seized during the operation.

The drive also covered other traffic rule violations, with the department collecting a total fine of ₹51.54 lakh over the three days.

To curb drunk driving, police set up checkpoints at 30 locations across Pune. During these checks, action was taken against 186 motorists found driving under the influence of alcohol.

The traffic police have urged citizens to follow road safety rules, highlighting that modified silencers contribute to noise pollution and inconvenience to the public. Officials also warned that drunk driving is a serious offence that endangers lives.

Authorities further reiterated that triple riding on two-wheelers is illegal and increases the risk of accidents, posing a threat to both riders and other road users. Citizens have been appealed to cooperate in maintaining safe and disciplined traffic conditions in the city.
