Pune, March 21, 2026: Residents of Sylvan Heights society in Aundh celebrated Marathi New Year, Gudhi Padwa, with a distinctive twist this year—a themed Shobha Yatra titled “Sohala Sanancha, Ananda Sarvancha.” The rally highlighted popular festivals observed throughout the twelve months of the Hindu calendar in Maharashtra.

Over 170 participants took part in the procession, with each group representing a different month’s festival. Participants dressed in traditional attire and carried props to bring the celebrations to life. The parade covered a two-kilometre route through the Aundh neighbourhood, drawing the attention of local residents and passersby.

One observer remarked, “It was a visual treat to see the festivals come alive. The beats of Dhol Tasha, waving saffron flags, and the energy of participants added immensely to the festive spirit.”

Sujata Patil, a long-time resident and key organiser of the event, said, “It is our responsibility to carry forward the legacy of our rich culture and heritage. Events like these are not only enjoyable for everyone but also help introduce future generations to our traditions.”

The celebration successfully combined cultural education with entertainment, leaving residents inspired and connected to their roots.
