Pune Techie Duped of Rs 91 Lakh by Woman on Matrimonial Site

Pune: In a shocking incident, a woman has reportedly duped a techie residing in Pune of Rs 91.75 lakh from March 15 to June 15. They met on a matrimonial site.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Digambar Suryawanshi, Assistant Police Inspector, Dehu Road, Police Station said, “The IT professional met the woman on a matrimonial site in February 2023. The woman convinced him and promised to marry him. She also asked him to start saving money for their future and used to send him fraud links for investment and trading. The guy trusted her blindly and started investing money through the links. Initially, he got good returns but soon started losing money. The woman also stopped picking up his calls. Hence, upon realizing that he was getting cheated, he immediately complained to Dehu Road police station on Saturday.”

As per information from Digambar Suryawanshi, a case has been registered under Sections 420 & 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) & 66D & other relevant sections of the IT Act. Further investigation and the search for the woman is underway currently.
