Pune To Expect Thunderstorms Next Week
Maharashtra Weather Alert For June 8: Monsoon Advances, Stormy Rainfall to Continue; Yellow Alert Issued for 26 Districts
Pune, May 19, 2026: Pune is expected to get some relief next week, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms and cooler temperatures between May 22 and 24, after the extreme heat.
Over the past week, Pune recorded high temperatures, with Shivajinagr touching 41.4 degrees Celsius on May 11, the hottest May day in the area since 2015. During the morning, temperatures remained high across several parts of the city.
According to IMD officials, strengthening westerly winds are bringing moisture into the region, which is expected to lower temperatures gradually from May 19 onwards.

Areas such as Lohegaon, Hadapsar, Koregaon Park and Magarpatta continued to remain warmer than normal, while places like Pashan and Lavale recorded slightly cooler temperatures.

The IMD has predicted cloudy weather, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in parts of Maharashtra, including Pune, over the coming days.
