Pune to Get Inclusive and Eco-Friendly Tourism Development Plan
Pune district will soon have an inclusive and eco-friendly comprehensive tourism development plan. District Collector Jitendra Dudi has directed officials to start preparing the plan. He was speaking at a meeting held on Tuesday at the district collector’s office.
Dudi said Pune district is rich in tourist attractions. It has historical forts, religious sites, cultural and sports centres, rivers, wildlife, biodiversity, dams, agriculture, forests, water tourism, adventure sports, birdwatching, rural tourism, and grassland safaris. Considering these aspects, Dudi has asked for a detailed and inclusive plan to boost tourism.
During the meeting, key tourist destinations were identified. Officials also discussed promoting eco-tourism, adventure sports, and creating job opportunities for local people. The preservation of local traditions, literature, art, music, theatre, and other cultural elements was also stressed. These can help attract more tourists to the district.
Dudi emphasised the need to include digital infrastructure in the plan. Tourists should be able to get information easily about entry fees, accommodation, food, restaurants, drinking water, rest areas, and sanitation facilities at all sites.
“There is a need for meticulous planning to attract domestic and international tourists while ensuring they have access to all necessary amenities,” said Dudi.
He also asked officials to study tourism festivals in other states. He suggested taking guidance from renowned architects and tourism experts to improve Pune district’s tourism appeal
The aim is to promote sustainable tourism while preserving nature and local culture. The new tourism plan is expected to offer a better experience for visitors and generate employment for locals. The planning process has begun and officials are working towards presenting a detailed proposal soon.
