Pune To Host International Pen Festival Celebrating Writing Culture On January 10–11
Pune, January 5, 2026: From a very young age, pens and ink have been an important part of everyone’s life. Our emotions and information are expressed in words and writing through these instruments, helping us to express ourselves. Therefore, along with pens and ink, Pune residents will be able to experience a unique celebration of writing culture on January 10th and 11th.
The occasion is the International Pen Festival organized by the Writing Wonders organization in Pune. The festival will be held at Siddhi Banquets on D.P. Road near Mhatre Bridge in Erandwane, on Saturday, January 10th and Sunday, January 11th, from 10 AM to 8 PM on both days. Please note that the festival is open to all free of charge. Ancient Indian writing instruments will be the special attraction of this year’s festival.
The inauguration of the festival will take place on Saturday, January 10th at 11 AM, in the presence of Krishnakumar Goyal, founder of Kohinoor Group, Abhay Gadgil of PNG Exclusive, and Prof. Dr. B. B. Ahuja of JSPM University, informed Surendra Karamchandani of the Writing Wonders organization.
Giving more information about the festival, Karamchandani further said, “This International Pen Festival will provide Pune residents with the opportunity to see many different types of pens under one roof. This is the 9th year of the festival, and it will surely give a unique experience to pen lovers and pen collectors.”
This event will offer pen enthusiasts the opportunity to see and handle various types of pens from over 75 premium pen brands worldwide. This includes international luxury brands such as Visconti, Montegrappa, Waterman, Diplomat, S.T. DuPont, and Peininferina. Karamchandani also mentioned that Parker Premium Gift Sets, the Pilot Custom 74 Anniversary Limited Edition with three interchangeable barrels, the Sheaffer collection from the Netflix series ‘Emily in Paris’ and Live Engraving on Metal Pens will be among the highlights of this year’s festival.
Besides various types of fountain pens, ballpoint pens, and rollerball pens, the festival will also showcase inks, writing materials, and high-quality leather pen pouches. Karamchandani further stated that the festival will feature a large collection of inks from over 15 Indian and international brands like Lamy, Colorverse, Noodler’s, Pelikan, and Diamine, with over 500 shades. Notebooks suitable for fountain pens, notebooks with attractive, artistic, and colorful covers, and notebooks with built-in power banks will also be displayed during the festival.
Ancient Indian writing materials will be a special attraction at this year’s festival, providing the younger generation with information about ancient writing methods and materials.
As in previous years, Pune residents will also have the opportunity to interact with handwriting experts, calligraphers, artists who can create various styles of Marathi signatures, pen care specialists who provide information on pen maintenance and storage, pen doctors who repair fountain pens on the spot, and nib tuners who shape pen nibs according to each person’s writing style. In addition, artisans who personalize metal pens with engravings will also be present during the festival. Furthermore, On January 11, attendees will be able to witness the Urban Sketchers Group who will be doing their weekly sketches in Siddhi Banquet premises. Additionally Friday Portrait Artist Group and Sanskar Bharti Portrait & Landscape Group will be doing live painting at the festival on January 11th.
Taking advantage of the fact that January 23rd is celebrated as Handwriting Day everywhere, the Writing Wonders organization has organized an online handwriting competition specifically for students. From the online entries, 150 students will be selected and invited to a live writing round at Siddhi Banquet on Sunday, January 11th. From this round, 30 outstanding students will be selected and honored with certificates and writing supplies kits. Ample parking for two-wheelers and four-wheelers is available at the festival venue, and lucky visitors to the festival will receive free prizes from the organizers.
