Pune: Traffic Diversion Announced Due to Tata Metro Construction Work on Ganeshkhind Road

Pune, January 14, 2025: The ongoing construction of the Tata Metro on Ganeshkhind Road, between Pune University Chowk and Shivajinagar Court, has necessitated temporary changes in the traffic system to ensure smooth vehicular movement and prevent congestion. The construction involves two major tasks at Pune University Chowk:

  1. Construction of the Baner Ramp for the double-decker flyover.
  2. Work related to PMR 19/02.

Given that the Baner Ramp and the PMR 19/02 pillars will extend to both sides of the road, the Pune Traffic Police has implemented temporary traffic diversions under the Motor Vehicle Act, as per the notification issued by the Maharashtra Government. These diversions will come into effect from January 15, 2025, and remain in place until further notice.

New Traffic Arrangements:

  1. Vehicles from Baner heading towards Shivajinagar:
Traffic from Baner will be diverted onto Aundh Road, where vehicles can take a U-turn near the Raj Bhavan stretch and proceed towards Shivajinagar via Pune University Road.
  2. Vehicles from Shivajinagar heading towards Aundh:
Traffic from Shivajinagar towards Aundh will pass straight through Pune University Chowk and continue via Aundh Road to their destination.
  3. Vehicles from Aundh heading towards Shivajinagar:
Traffic from Aundh to Shivajinagar will be diverted through the Millennium Gate near the Chatushrungi Police Station, pass through Pune University Campus via the Y-junction, and exit through the main entrance of the university towards their destination.

Appeal to Citizens:
